A sleepsack only works when it fits. Too loose and the wearer can wriggle, the leather bunches and the compression you want never arrives. Too tight and breathing, circulation and comfort suffer. Because every sleepsack we make is cut by hand, you can order a standard size or send us your exact body measurements. This guide shows you how to take them.
What you need
- A soft fabric tape measure
- A partner to help (you can't measure yourself accurately with your arms at your sides)
- Bare skin or thin underwear, since we size for the naked body
- A notepad: all measurements are in inches

The 9 measurements
Stand straight and relaxed with your arms by your sides, the way you'll lie in the sack. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
- Neck: around the base of the neck, where a collar sits.
- Shoulder to shoulder: all the way around the body over both shoulders, at the widest point.
- Chest including arms: arms relaxed at the sides, around the fullest part of the chest and both arms together.
- Waist including arms: arms at the sides, around the waist and both arms.
- Both knees: legs together, around both knees at once.
- Both ankles: feet together, around both ankles.
- Total length: from the base of the neck straight down to the ankles.
- Both thighs including arms: arms at the sides, around both thighs and hands at the widest point.
- Both calves: legs together, around both calves at the widest point.
Why include the arms? Most sleepsacks hold the arms inside, against the body. If you measure the chest alone, the sack will be far too tight once the arms are in.
Standard size or custom?
Our standard sizes run from Small to XXX Large and suit most people of average proportions. Choose Custom (Naked Body Size in Inches) if:
- you are very tall, very short, broad-shouldered or slim-hipped
- your chest and waist would fall into different standard sizes
- you want maximum, even compression from neck to toe
Custom sizing costs nothing extra. Enter your 9 measurements on the product page and we cut the sack to your body. Custom-made sleepsacks are final sale, so double-check every number.
Common mistakes
- Measuring the chest without the arms: the most common reason a sack won't close.
- Pulling the tape tight: it should lie flat with no gap and no squeeze.
- Measuring over clothes: add the thickness of anything you plan to wear inside, or measure bare.
- Guessing the length: measure standing straight, from the neck base to the ankle bone.

Build options that affect fit
- Inner sleeves hold the arms inside and make the fit more snug.
- Back zipper makes getting in and out easier for larger builds.
- Lining: full leather lining is slightly thicker than polyester. Mention it in your order if you are between sizes.
Safety first
Never leave someone alone in a sleepsack, keep safety shears within reach, agree a safeword or safe signal, and check circulation and breathing regularly. Read our bondage safety checklist before your first session.
